I feel as if I haven’t fully landed yet, and yet here we are, in January 2022!

Slightly worse for wear?

On new years Eve, after cooking a million Dutch Deep Fried Olieballen to see my family into the New Year, my dishwasher stubbornly refused to comply.

Never mind, I thought, while waiting for Pete to fix the problem.

I have a spare dishwasher is the clinic section.

However, 10 minutes into the washing cycle of the second dishwasher, I heard an ominous BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!

Sadly, that was its final sound.  

It had died and flooded the kitchen in the process.

Back in my main kitchen, Pete shook his head and left me to mop up the mess in the other kitchen.

Behind his back, I played with all the buttons on the dishwasher, and eventually got it working, but only on the 3 hour cycle.

It’s been doing 3 hour cycles every since.

I am not sure what the Universe is trying to tell me, but it made me think about the PRIMARY DISHWASHER we have in our body, our LIVER.

If you want to be really clear on how your liver is performing, inspect the toilet after you have emptied your bowels.

Be on the lookout for these pointers:

  • The colour of your bowel contents should be mahogany brown. If it is lighter, your bile isn’t flowing.
  • If it floats, you are not digesting your fats. This is an emergency because you need lots of fats to remain healthy. Your brain and nervous system rely on fats, and so do all your cell membranes.
  • If the faecal matter sticks to the side of the toilet you may have too many toxins in your body, or you could be detoxing. Ideally, your bowel products should be well formed and stay in shape.

Don’t be put off by this little study, because it might save your life, as it helps you to understand how your body reacts to different foods and circumstances.

By keeping a check on your waste products, you can detect trouble before it starts, and give your liver much needed support.

The BEST FOODS for your liver are healthy fats.

Healthy fats are:

  • Organic butter and cream
  • Organic cold pressed olive oil or macadamia oil
  • Organic coconut oil
  • Meat fats
  • Avocado oil.

The worst fats are all poly unsaturated oils and margarines.

High starch carbohydrates, sugars and fruits as well as fruit juices are also very hard on the liver.
