THE ROBERTSON TECHNIQUE

Have you ever had that experience where your body just feels… off?

Not sick exactly, but like something structural that has shifted out of place, and nobody can quite tell you why.

Maybe you have been carrying a niggling ache in your lower back for so long you have started to think it is just who you are now.

Or your hip hurts when you walk, your shoulders sit unevenly, and no amount of massage or pain relief quite gets to the bottom of it.

That is exactly the kind of problem the Robertson Technique was built for.

Developed here at the Purple House by Peter and Grada Robertson over more than 25 years of hands-on clinical practice, the Robertson Technique is a passive structural alignment modality.

That means you do not have to do anything except lie on the table and let your body remember what it already knows.

Peter and Caleb work gently with the bones, muscles, and joints, following the body’s own intelligence to release areas of restriction, restore alignment, and allow the nervous system to reset.

There are no forceful adjustments.

No cracking.

No pushing through pain.

Just deeply precise, quiet work that lets the body reorganize itself from the inside out.

The psoas muscle sits right at the heart of this work.

Known as the muscle of the soul, the psoas is a deep hip flexor that connects your spine to your legs and acts as the body’s fight-or-flight antenna.

When it is chronically tight or contracted—which happens from years of sitting, stress, injury, or unresolved trauma—it pulls the pelvis forward, compresses the lumbar spine, and creates a ripple effect of pain and misalignment right through the body.

Most treatments chase the pain.

The Robertson Technique goes to the source.

Peter himself was told in his early forties that he needed a hip replacement.

He has never needed one.

Grada rebuilt her own sacrum after it was shattered in a near-fatal accident in 2006.

What they learned through their own recovery, and through working with thousands of clients over the years, became the Robertson Technique.

Like the Bowen Technique and the Alexander Technique, the Robertson Technique bears the name of its developers because it is a living legacy, not a set of borrowed tools.

It is something Pete and Caleb practice with pride, and something they are quietly passing on.

If you are tired of patching the same problem over and over, it might be time to let the body tell its own story.
