Oriental Cupping is an ancient Chinese method that has been used for over 2,500 years.

At the Purple House cupping is a popular therapy that is often applied by Arthit Barnes and Helen Callaghan in conjunction with a massage.

Our therapists use cups to create suction on the skin. This helps bring alive the underlying tissues by encouraging blood flow to the area.

Cupping does leave marks on the skin where the cups have been. They can take a week to ten days to clear. As further cups are applied (usually weekly) the round marks left by the cups become less and less marked.

Cupping Therapy has been developed as a means to open the ‘Meridians’ (invisible energy channels through which energy flows to every part of the body). There are five meridians on the back which are unblocked with the use of cupping. This allows a fresh surge of energy to travel the whole length of the body.

Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches deep, causing tissues to release toxins. It activates the lymphatic system and helps clear the skin. Some conditions for which Oriental cupping is very effective are:
  • tension in the muscles of the upper or lower back,
  • fatigue,
  • headaches,
  • poor circulation
  • hormonal imbalances
  • toxic build up
  • lymphatic stagnation
  • sports injuries,
  • colds and flu,
  • stiffness
  • numbness and pain.

A full hour combination of massage and cupping is $100 and you will be pleasantly surprised how rejuvenated your body feels the next day!  Phone 64283007 to book.
