Are you more exhausted than normal?
Not the kind of tired that a good night’s sleep fixes, but the bone-deep, foggy, dragging-yourself-through-the-day kind of tired.
Has your brain quietly gone on holiday while you’re still at work, or at home, or standing in the kitchen, wondering why you walked in there in the first place?
Trying to keep the show going as if nothing is wrong?
Why is finding a lasting solution harder than finding a needle in a haystack, when more than half the population seems to be dealing with the exact same thing?
If chronic fatigue and brain fog are now this common, then they are no longer “individual problems.”
They are a systemic one.
Chronic fatigue and brain fog are two of the most common reasons people seek help at the Purple House.
They are also among the most misunderstood symptoms in modern healthcare.
People arrive tired beyond words, mentally dulled, emotionally flat, and frightened by how abnormal they feel, performing ‘as normal’ on the outside but fighting a slippery slope on the inside.
Many have already done what they were told was “right.”
They have cleaned up their diet, taken supplements, rested more, pushed less, pushed more, seen specialists, and had blood tests that came back “normal.”
Some have been told the problem is stress, anxiety, hormones, or simply ageing.
From our Purple House Clinic perspective, fatigue and brain fog are not random, and they are not signs of weakness.
They are messages that your system is no longer producing energy efficiently, clearing waste effectively, or regulating itself.
During a Full Health Audit or a Diagnostic session, we don’t just look at the dashboard lights.
We take a good, hard look under the bonnet of your car!
Your energy levels are the end result of your digestion, mineral levels, oxygen delivery, liver function, nervous system regulation, and metabolic efficiency, all working together as your favourite football or basketball team.
If one player isn’t pulling its weight, the whole team suffers.
All the other players must work harder.
Imagine what would happen if the players started fighting each other during a game while the coach ignored it?
You would have mayhem.
This is often what goes on behind the scenes in our bodies, and we need to get the spotlight on it and see what’s happening.
When one of your organs or systems is strained, your entire body goes into compensation mode.
When several are strained at once, fatigue becomes chronic, and the mind often follows, clouded by what we call brain fog.
You might recognize this feeling as mental heaviness, poor concentration, slowed thinking, and reduced clarity.
This is why chasing fatigue through single solutions rarely works.
The body does not operate in fragments.
Fatigue is still commonly explained in terms of iron deficiency, yet this explanation is often superficial and, in some cases, actively misleading.
Iron is an essential mineral, but it is also highly reactive.
Excess or poorly managed iron in the bloodstream can accelerate oxidative stress and contribute to inflammation.
Did you know it’s also been connected to accelerated ageing and cancer proliferation due to its role in free-radical generation?
Iron metabolism depends on:
- Adequate copper to transport iron into the correct tissues
- Adequate zinc for immune and enzymatic balance
- Adequate molybdenum to support detoxification pathways
- Sufficient hydrochloric acid to properly ionise and absorb minerals
When this axis is out of balance, iron may appear low or high on paper while the real issue lies elsewhere.
Tissues may be poorly oxygenated, the liver may be overloaded, and the nervous system may be stressed, all while standard blood markers fail to tell the real story.
My Own Story With “Anaemia” and the Cost of Surface-Level Answers
As a child growing up in a small Dutch village, I was labelled anaemic.
I also had a heart murmur until the age of ten, and every few months, I would ride my bicycle into the town centre by myself to attend routine blood testing organised by the local council nurses.
Children and elderly villagers would sit together in the terrapin, a cheaply built temporary multi-purpose building erected after WW2.
I can still remember the smell of strong disinfectant, the heavy linoleum floors, mixed with too many bodies in a confined space.
Sometimes the waiting took hours, and there was nothing to alleviate the tension because this was before mobile phones.
From around the age of seven, when I could ride my bike there by myself, until seventeen, this was part of my normal rhythm, only to be told every time that I was still anaemic and sent home with iron tablets.
My mum ignorantly called them steel tables.
That name alone captures the thinking of the time: there is a pill for every ill.
If your body is tired or weak, you harden it or steel yourself and keep going.
Those tablets were not easily absorbed by my body.
They gave me boils, headaches, and a frustrating sense that my body was being overridden rather than understood.
When I met Pete at 17 and moved to Tasmania not long after, all of my long-standing health problems faded away, because I started living from a regulated nervous system.
Low Hydrochloric Acid: The Overlooked Gatekeeper of Energy
One of the most common and under-recognised contributors to fatigue and brain fog is low stomach acid.
Hydrochloric acid is not just about breaking down food.
It is essential for:
- Mineral absorption
- Protein digestion
- Triggering bile release
- Protecting against pathogens
- Signaling the entire digestive cascade
When hydrochloric acid is low, often due to chronic stress, under-eating, long-term restriction, or nervous system overload, minerals pass through the body unused, proteins ferment rather than digest, and the liver is burdened with excess metabolic waste.
From the outside, this can look like a deficiency.
From the inside, it is a failure of assimilation, and today we restore it with Betaine HCL. (Click here to visit our online shop)
Your liver also plays a central role in energy production and mental clarity.
It manages hormones, clears metabolic waste, produces bile, and helps regulate blood sugar.
When liver pathways are congested or bile flow is sluggish, people often experience fatigue that worsens after meals, mental cloudiness, hormonal symptoms, and a feeling of internal heaviness.
Brain fog is very often a liver story, even when it is experienced primarily in the head.
Supporting liver function is therefore not about detox fads, but about restoring BILE flow, so the brain is no longer swimming in unresolved chemistry.
Alina’s story illustrates what happens when fatigue is ignored for too long.
Alina was a busy mum, managing a restaurant and juggling staff, family, and constant responsibilities.
She came to us with all the classic signs: chronic exhaustion, brain fog, digestive pain, and the feeling that she was running purely on adrenaline.
One afternoon after closing time, her exhaustion crossed a dangerous threshold.
She went to make herself a coffee, forgetting that she had already put chemical cleaning products into the coffee machine.
Only after her brain started spinning more than usual did she realise what had happened.
In the aftermath, her energy collapsed even further.
Her brain felt scrambled, her stomach pain intensified, and she lived on the fumes of adrenaline.
Alina booked a diagnostic session with Caleb, and it quickly became clear that her liver and microbiome were profoundly out of balance, something no amount of rest or motivation would have corrected.
At the Purple House, we often get the best results when we combine energy work with aligned physical intervention, so Caleb did a mineral and microbiome correction.
In Alina’s own words: “As soon as Caleb put his hand on my tummy, I felt my energy return. The dull ache I’d been carrying there dissolved, and my brain cleared. It all unfolded on its own; I didn’t have to do anything. I felt the energy return to my body.”
Alina also began the Ultimate Vitality Boost, and now says she doesn’t know whether it was the energy correction, the nutritional support, or both, but she feels fantastic.
People comment on how well she looks.
Her clarity has returned, and her body no longer feels like it’s on the brink.
Many people living with chronic fatigue are not depleted because they are lazy or unmotivated.
They are depleted because their nervous systems have been in survival mode for too long.
When the body does not feel safe, digestion slows, repair is postponed, sleep becomes light, and energy production is sacrificed in favour of vigilance.
Recovery does not come from pushing harder, but from finding your lane and staying in it, which can mean culling friendships and activities that no longer serve you.
Recovery happens faster when you have a path to follow and that is what we offer you at the Purple House.
Rather than chasing symptoms, we restore your body from the cellular level, from the inside out, by:
- Stabilising the nervous system
- Restoring digestion
- Hydrochloric acid levels
- Supporting liver and bile flow
- Balancing minerals
- Stabilising blood sugar
- Reducing metabolic burden
- Clearing trauma or the issues in your tissues
A Diagnostic Session or Full Health Audit allows us to identify which systems are carrying the greatest load in your body, rather than guessing or following generic protocols.
You do not need more willpower or another extreme solution; you need all players on the field to work together so you feel great!
