Magnesium the miracle supplement.

Do you crave Chocolates? Can’t resist eating the whole bar of chocolate after the first nibble? You might be unwittingly self-medicating your magnesium deficiency.

Signs of magnesium deficiency are everywhere once you know what to look for! This post might help you recognize signs of classic magnesium deficiency in yourself or others.

Calcium deficiency is implicated in over 140 different diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, receding gums, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney stones, insomnia, heel spurs, bone spurs, cramps and twitches, PMS, low back pain … yet most people don’t need more calcium, they need more magnesium!

I am explaining this to my client who has been suffering from osteoporosis for years.

She has had one hip replacement and is on my treatment table today for pain relief for her lower back and the other hip. She also gets the hot flushes.

“Your milk intake and calcium supplements have made you worse rather than better. They are exacerbating your problems”. There is no easy way to tell her, so I may as well be straightforward.

She has never heard of magnesium, all she had been told was to drink lots of milk and have her calcium tablets.

“When it comes to your minerals, think of calcium as chalk and magnesium as the glue that keeps it all together,” I tell her. “When your bones are crumbling, you need superglue (magnesium) to transform the chalk into superior bones and teeth.”

This may sound simplistic, but it is even more simplistic to assume that calcium supplements will go straight into your bones. The reality is that when your magnesium stores are low, blood levels of calcium will be too high already. High levels of calcium in the blood may lead to hardening of the arteries, spurs on the spine and heels, kidney stones, calcification of your breast tissue which may lead to mastectomies and calcification of your ovaries and other glands, interfering with your hormone levels so you age prematurely and lose that overall youthful feel and look.

It is wrong to assume that osteoporosis and tooth decay can be prevented by high calcium intake.

Calcium intake is a prescription for accelerated ageing. There is published evidence that shows the Bantu women in Africa with a very low calcium intake have the lowest rate of osteoporosis in the world. Some Asian populations have very low daily calcium intake and they also have low incidence of osteoporosis. The higher the calcium intake, especially in the form of pasteurized and homogenized cow’s milk, the higher the incidence of osteoporosis.

Let me explain how this happens:

In our body, about half of the magnesium is found in the bones and the other half inside the cells of the tissues and organs. In contrast 99% of calcium is in the bones and the rest is in the fluid outside the cells.

To use your muscles calcium has to move into the cells. To relax, calcium has to be pumped out and magnesium flows back in. This calcium/magnesium pump mechanism requires energy.

When energy is lacking, calcium may build up inside the cells. This may lead to cramps, stiffness and poor blood circulation. As time goes on more and more soft tissue becomes calcified. All this calcium comes from the bones.

Nerves tissue can also accumulate calcium, cataracts may form, hormones go out of whack and all other cells become handicapped in their function.

The last thing you want to do now is pump more calcium into an already calcified body. You don’t want to become an Egyptian mummy before your time!

If you recognize any of these symptoms, your body is screaming out for magnesium:

• Insomnia
• Depression or anxiety
• Nausea
• Irritability and agitation
• Lethargy and fatigue
• Poor attention span
• Memory loss
• Cramps, spasms, eye twitching
• Weak muscles or dizziness
• Allergies
• Arthritis
• Back aches
• Blood clots
• Bruxism
• Chronic fatigue
• Cold extremities
• Constipation
• Cravings for chocolate
• Cystitis
• Fibromyalgia
• Headaches or migraines
• High blood pressure
• Kidney stones
• Osteoporosis
• Panic attacks
• Accelerated ageing
• All over body tension
• Bowel problems
• Numbness of hands and feet
• Post natal depression
• Testosterone deficiency in men
• Excess testosterone in women, leading to facial hair and scalp hair loss
• Stroke
• MS, Parkinson
• Atherosclerosis
• Heart disease.

I guess that sounds like you, me and everybody else in your circle of friends and family….and there is a reason for this!

When you are stressed your adrenal glands go into overdrive and release adrenalin and cortisol into your blood stream.

After a while your body thinks that being in a stressed state is normal and it keeps on pumping out stress hormones day and night. These hormones cause the loss of magnesium through your urine. The longer your stress levels last the more magnesium you lose. Magnesium is the circuit breaker that protects your Nervous System from blowing up.

Calcium will have the opposite effect, because it antagonizes the action of magnesium. You even need magnesium to produce energy. Where do you think energy is produced? Right inside each cell of your body.

And what does each cell need to produce energy? No, not a double shot coffee, it needs Magnesium! But if your body is flooded by calcium, magnesium can’t reach the cells or tissues. To keep calcium in the bones and teeth, and to remove calcium from your soft tissues where it’s causing pain and stiffness, you need a steady supply of magnesium. (As well as energy medicine sessions, as you can see at the bottom of the article.)

Magnesium can reverse osteoporosis as one patient reported:

“My GP rang regarding my bone density scan and wanted to know what I had been doing over the last 2 years. I asked why, and she said that by looking at the 2005 and 2006 scans, she could see with the 2008 scan that I had improved. She couldn’t believe it, and said that normally when you are in the osteoporosis range, you don’t come out of it.”

This person had reversed osteoporosis by reducing her calcium intake and greatly increasing her magnesium intake. (In addition to the trace mineral boron. Read how boron reverses osteoporosis here http://bit.ly/2r90Xrf ).

People often ask me: ‘Do I get enough magnesium from my foods?” The short answer is: “No you don’t.”

Artificial fertilizers suppress the uptake of magnesium in the vegetables. And no, because one molecule of sugar displaces 50 molecules of magnesium, which gets flushed from our system, into the toilet.

One of the easiest and healthiest forms of magnesium is magnesium oil, or magnesium chloride.

You can rub it all over your body before you go to bed for a good night sleep, or in the morning after you shower to nullify your stress levels. It is excellent to rub on sore fingers, joints, necks or lower backs. It even boosts your immune system. Studies showed that the same number of white blood cells killed 3 times more microbes than before, after the person took magnesium chloride.

Other diseases that can greatly benefit from magnesium supplementation are:

Parkinson, tremors, gall bladder problems, hay fever, warts and itches, impotence, anaphylactic reactions, emphysema, tonsillitis, flu, whooping cough, measles, mumps, boils and abscesses, infected wounds, asthma and bronchitis, pneumonia, rheumatic diseases, herpes zoster, shock, tetanus and chronic fatigue.

Magnesium chloride is available in 120 ml bottles and retails for $12, Cabot Health Magnesium Complete 200 tabs $49.00, Cabot Health Magnesium Powder 200g $50.00, Karma Rub $16.50 (all Australian magnesium oil). Bioraculous Green Superfood is an excellent source of magnesium which retails for $58. Raw Cacao Powder is also a reliable source of magnesium.

An Energy medicine session will re-balance and restore your mineral levels. You remain fully dressed and get to relax on the treatment table in our nice warm rooms. Energy medicine/Kinergetics “hacks” into your subconscious mind through muscle testing. Your subconscious is the mind that co-pilots your life. It takes care of your breathing, your heart rate and a million other things while you go about your daily business. It is completely in charge when your conscious mind goes to sleep and that is when it gets most of its healing done. Your subconscious sometimes needs a helping hand whether we have had a lot of trauma or very little in the same way that your car needs a service!

Energy medicine/kinergetics is a very fast, deep and thorough form of kinesiology and focuses on removing memories of traumas that keep our body in a dehydrated and de-mineralized state.

Imbalances caused by mineral deficiencies or lack of water drain our life force on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Sometimes we can drink as much water as we like, but it doesn’t reach the proper destination. It doesn’t penetrate the cells and our insides remain dehydrated. That also means that chemical messages can’t reach the cells for proper functioning and our mineral balance will be way out of kilter. You never really reach your full potential.
