Why do we (at the Purple House) always make such a fuss about magnesium?

It’s not as if my life depends on it, is it?

Well, yes, it does!

And that’s why we are big fans of magnesium.

Do I hear you say that you have just had a blood test and your magnesium levels are perfect?

Well, I am sorry to say that you have been deceived.

Only 1% of your body’s magnesium is present in the bloodstream.

Most of this essential mineral is found in the bones, organs, and muscles.

So, let’s find out the reality of your magnesium levels.

Your levels are NOT OK if you experience the following symptoms:

  1. Muscle and organ aches and pains, cramps, spasms, or twitches. Feeling sore for days after exercise, or painful menstruation is also caused by low levels.
  2. Osteoporosis, brittle nails, and tooth problems are caused by poor magnesium levels. While calcium may be the chalk in the bones, magnesium is the glue that holds the structure together, and that gives it strength.
  3. Magnesium is the circuit breaker. It won’t allow your stress levels to reach breaking point. It nurtures and restores your nervous system. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, intolerance, overwhelm. If you feel like 50 shades of dishcloth, you could do with a big boost of magnesium.
  4. Lack of magnesium is the biggest factor in post-natal depression, because the mum’s magnesium has been stockpiled into the placenta which gets thrown out. All mums deserve a gold medal, so the least you can do for yourself or your spouse, is to build up her magnesium store.
  5. The same goes for heart health. Low magnesium can cause arrhythmia, high blood pressure, low energy, and spasming of the heart muscle. Try magnesium supplementation first before reach for high blood pressure pills.
  6. Diabetes and insulin resistance are all exacerbated by low levels of magnesium because magnesium helps the cell levels to open for energy exchange. Stubborn fat around the waist, sugar and carb cravings, and fatigue are signs that you might be magnesium deficient.
  7. Infertility and polycystic ovarian syndrome improve by taking extra magnesium and increased Himalayan Salt intake.

How much magnesium is too much?

As far as we know, it is safe to increase your magnesium intake till you get diarrhea.

That’s when you know your body has had enough.

  • Spray it on your body in the form of magnesium oil
  • Have Epsom salt baths, and swallow the Great Relaxer pills
  • OR drink the powder which comes in citrus and strawberry flavour.

The more stressed and pressured you are the more you need magnesium.

You will feel ‘cushioned’ from life and surprisingly stress and worry free!
