Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like you’ve been playing tennis all night in your sleep?
Maybe you technically slept … but you drag yourself out of bed feeling as if your body is made of lead.
You’re cold, foggy, puffy around the eyes, your hair and nails are not what they used to be, and you keep thinking: “Surely this isn’t just aging … but all my tests come back ‘normal’.”
If that’s you, I want you to meet Fiona.
Fiona was one of my clients, only 23 years old.
Four years earlier, she had been super fit.
She ran, exercised, went out with friends, and was the life of the party.
By the time she came to see me, you couldn’t have paid her a million dollars to get off the couch.
She was that exhausted.
Her doctor had put her on the contraceptive pill four years before to “fix” her irregular, painful periods.
On paper, that sounded great: the pain settled, and her cycles looked more regular.
But underneath, something much deeper was going on.
When we did her live blood analysis, her picture told a different story.
Her dry skin, puffy eyes, brittle nails, and profound lethargy all pointed in the same direction:
Her thyroid was struggling.
I suspected she was dealing with low thyroid function, worsened by the pill.
And here is one of the dirty little secrets about hormones that most women are never told: It’s often not your uterus that’s the problem. It’s your thyroid trying to keep up.
Your thyroid is one of the master conductors of your entire hormonal symphony — including your reproductive system.
If we only “quiet” the uterus with medication, without looking at the thyroid, it’s like putting a Band-Aid on the wrong spot.
With the help of her GP and our guidance, Fiona gradually came off the pill, started supporting her thyroid and overall vitality with iodine and our Ultimate Vitality Boost pack (which includes support for bile flow, digestion, gut flora, and minerals), and within a short time something beautiful happened: She started bouncing out of bed.
Her T3 levels (one of the thyroid hormones) improved, her Vitamin B levels normalised, her cycle settled — and she told me she felt like she was 19 again.
Now, I’m absolutely not saying this is everyone’s story, or that supplements replace medical care.
But I am saying this: When you give your thyroid and your cells the basic building blocks they’re starving for, the body often responds in remarkable ways.
And I want that possibility for you, too.
Dirty Little Secret #1: It’s Often Not “Just in Your Head”
Many of the women (and men!) who walk into the Purple House say the same thing: “I feel awful, but my tests are ‘normal’ so I’ve been told it’s either stress… or in my head.”
Meanwhile they’re battling fatigue, low mood, energy crashes, hair loss, stubborn weight, brain fog, feeling the cold, low libido, anxiety, and a feeling that their “spark” has gone missing.
Yes, the mind plays a role.
Stress plays a role.
Life events play a role.
But there is often a quiet physical story running underneath that never gets addressed:
- A tired thyroid
- A mineral-starved body
- A liver that’s struggling to clear hormones and toxins
- A gut microbiome disrupted by medications, processed food, chlorine, and more
That’s why we recorded our video “4 Dirty Secrets About Thyroid Disease” to help you connect the dots in a practical, down-to-earth way.
Dirty Little Secret #2: Your Thyroid Is Thirsty for Minerals & Salt
You’ve probably heard this one: “Salt is bad for you. Cut it out if you want to be healthy.”
The real story is more nuanced.
Highly processed table salt — the bleached white stuff with additives — doesn’t belong in your food chain and your body doesn’t love it.
But unrefined salt (like Himalayan salt) is a completely different creature.
It naturally contains around 84 minerals and trace minerals, including potassium, which your thyroid and heart absolutely adore.
Think of it this way:
Your thyroid is like the starter motor of your car.
When you turn the key, it sparks the system into motion.
The spark in your body is created by water + minerals carrying electrical currents through every cell.
If you run a car without oil, it won’t go far.
If you run a human body without minerals, you also won’t go far … you just keep pushing through for years on low power, and call it “normal”.
We usually suggest (for adults with no medical contraindications and adequate kidney function) something like:
Around ¼ teaspoon of pure, unrefined salt per litre of water, and roughly 1 litre of water per 30 kg of body weight per day.
When people begin adding good water and good salt, many tell us they feel:
- More awake
- Warmer in their hands and feet
- Clearer in their thinking
- Less “stuck” and sluggish
It’s such a simple place to start.
Dirty Little Secret #3: Autoimmune Thyroid Issues Are Often Linked to Deficiency, Not “Too Much”
For years, many of us were told that autoimmune thyroid problems were caused by too much iodine.
This is slowly being questioned.
Practitioners like Dr David Brownstein and researchers like Professor Guy Abraham have accumulated a large body of work suggesting that, globally, we may actually be struggling with iodine deficiency, not excess — and that this deficiency may be linked to a range of modern health issues.
Iodine is not a “medicine” in the pharmaceutical sense.
It is a vital nutrient that every cell in your body needs.
It’s especially concentrated in the thyroid, breasts, ovaries, prostate, and brain.
You can’t be allergic to iodine itself (it’s a mineral, not a protein), although you can react to products that contain iodine combined with other substances, or to detox reactions if your body is overloaded with halogens (more on that in a moment).
Let me introduce you to Janine.
Janine had nodules on her thyroid for over 10 years.
Her main medical option was “watch and wait”, basically monitoring until things got bad enough to justify surgery or more aggressive treatment.
Understandably, this felt like watching her dog slowly chew off her leg.
When she came to see us, we talked about nutritional support with her specialist’s knowledge including iodine, water, and unrefined salt, and ways to support her liver and detox pathways.
Over time, her nodules reduced and her specialist was pleasantly surprised.
She also lost a few kilos without focusing on dieting, and her hair became thicker and shinier.
Everyone is different, and I would never suggest that nutritional changes alone can “treat” or “cure” disease.
But I’ve seen again and again that when people give their bodies the raw materials they crave, amazing things can happen alongside their medical care.
Dirty Little Secret #4: Your “Normal” Thyroid Tests May Be Hiding a Toxic Hormone Picture
This one shocks a lot of people.
Your thyroid tests can come back “within range”… and you can still feel like rubbish.
One reason is that your test results can’t always distinguish between healthy hormones and hormones made with the wrong building blocks.
Fluoride, chlorine, and bromide are in the same chemical family as iodine, the halogens.
They’re in our water, bread, mattresses, clothing, curtains, fire retardants, and countless products.
When your body is low on iodine, these halogens can slide into the receptor sites where iodine is supposed to go.
Your thyroid is trying to build hormones but ends up using the “evil triplet brothers” instead of the real thing.
You may still produce “enough” hormone to look normal on a blood test, but the hormone itself may not behave the way a clean, iodine-based hormone would.
So Where Do You Start?
If this is resonating with you, you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Here are some options we offer that may support you:
1. Full Health Audit with Peter or with our team
This is where we put the whole picture together:
- Live blood analysis
- Health history
- Energy levels and stress load
- Gut health, liver function, mineral status clues
- Thyroid and adrenal patterns
From there, we can help you craft a personalised plan that might include diet, lifestyle, breathing, energy practices, and targeted nutritional support.
You can book a Full Health Audit via our website or by calling the clinic (Wednesday–Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM).
2. Ultimate Vitality Boost Pack
For people who want to support their system at a foundational level, we often recommend our Ultimate Vitality Boost, which includes:
- Beetflow – to support healthy bile flow and liver function
- Omnizyme – broad spectrum digestive enzymes to help you actually break down your food
- Immuno-Synbiotic Restore – to nourish and rebalance the gut microbiome
- Colloidal Iodine – to support healthy thyroid and cellular function
We designed this pack over many years of clinical practice, personal health crises, and a lot of research.
It’s a powerful foundation.
You can order the Ultimate Vitality Boost from our online shop any time, or call the clinic if you prefer to place a phone order.
